GEM Bulgaria’s First Thematic Afternoon

GEM Bulgaria as part of the global network of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), organizes its first thematic afternoon dedicated to social entrepreneurship on 13 June 2016 at 1 p.m. in the House of Europe, Sofia (124, G.S. Rakovski Str.). “Global Trends in Social Entrepreneurship – measuring impact. Success stories from Bulgaria” will be situated in the context of a newly published GEM global special topic report, accounting for 58 countries. This is the biggest and most recent study of social entrepreneurship worldwide.

Special guests of the thematic afternoon will be the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Bulgaria H.E. Tom van Oorschot, Jacqueline Snijders (Panteia, Netherlands, GEM Netherlands), Zornitca Rusinova, Minister of Labour and Social Policy (invited), Ognian Zlatev, Head of EC Representation in Bulgaria (invited).

During the event Iskren Krusteff, Chairman of GEM Bulgaria, will talk about the role of Global Entrepreneurship Monitoring positioning Bulgaria on the world map of entrepreneurship and of the social entrepreneurship on this occasion as well as the importance for clear definition of the phenomenon. The keynote speech by Jacqueline Snijders will focus on the global trends of the social entrepreneurs across the world and the report’s findings. A special discussion panel will be dedicated to the successful social entrepreneurship practices in Bulgaria and the challenges of measuring its social, financial impact on the environment. During a special showcase, a panel of 5 Bulgarian social entrepreneurs will tell their stories and will talk about their motivation and drivers of success.

The “Global Trends in Social Entrepreneurship – measuring impact. Successful stories from Bulgaria” thematic afternoon is organized in partnership with the Netherlands Embassy in Sofia and as part of the Netherlands Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
